WEST ROXBURY, Mass. – William (Terry) Richards, 60, of Weymouth, Mass., died Saturday, June 28, at West Roxbury VA Hospital, after a short illness.
He was born in Rumford, on Aug. 25, 1947, a son to Harvey and Dora (Porter) Richards. Terry was educated in Rumford schools and later went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army. He was in Vietnam, and was shot on his 21st birthday. Do to his injuries, he was honorably discharged.
He worked for himself fixing small engines, he was also an antique car collector. He enjoyed going to car shows and showing off his cars. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Red Sox, Patriots and the Celtics. He was a member of The American Legion Post 40 in Winthrop and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
He leaves his mother, Dora Richards of Weymouth, Mass.; two sisters, Mary Jane Parker and her fiancee, Gaetan Cloutier, of Leeds and Pam Averill and her husband, Mark, of Sabattus; two brothers, Gary Richards and his wife, Ginhee, of New York, and Gerald Richards and his companion, Sondra, of Leeds; six nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles and cousins; a close friend, Dave Elliott; and his dog Diesel.
He was predeceased by his father, Harvey Richards.
