STRONG – A two-vehicle crash at Spaulding Road and Hartwell Road on Thursday sent two people to the hospital and a dog to a veterinary hospital.
Christopher Smith, 69, of Strong, driving a 2000 Volvo station wagon, was making a turn onto Spaulding Road when he crashed head-on with a 2008 GMC pickup coming down Spaulding Road, Cpl. Nathan Bean of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department said.
Jeffrey Murphy, 56, of Strong was driving the GMC pickup.
Both vehicles were in the middle of the road when they crashed, Bean said, adding that the 11:38 a.m. accident remained under investigation.
Both drivers suffered injuries and were taken by NorthStar ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington. A dog riding in the Smith vehicle was also injured and taken to a veterinary hospital, Bean said.
At midafternoon, the men were being treated in the emergency room, according to a hospital representative.
Strong Fire Department responded to the scene and Franklin County Deputy Sandy Burke assisted Bean.
Both vehicles were towed.
