LEWISTON – Charlotte Finn Sullivan, 89, passed away Sunday, June 29, at Central Maine Medical Center, after a very short illness.

She was born Jan. 2, 1919, to Raymond and Ethyl (Dimery) Finn in Lawrence, Mass. She graduated in 1936 from Saint Patrick’s High School and in 1937 from Essex Agricultural and Technical School in Massachusetts. Summers were spent happily on Mousam Lake in Shapleigh. She learned to love the outdoors and the lakes and woods of Maine.

A longtime parishioner of Saint Philips in Auburn, she was a member of the Woman’s Literary Union of Auburn and a past president of the Garden Club. She had a tremendous love for animals and was involved in the building committee for the first Greater Androscoggin Humane Society on Hotel Road in Auburn.

Later in life, she obtained her certified nursing assistant certification and worked private duty caring for close friends. She lived her last four years happily among friends and the wonderful and caring staff members of Montello Heights. She was known for her fine sewing, beautiful gardens and deep devotion to her family, friends and pets. She will be sadly missed.

She leaves behind her daughter, Rosemary and son-in-law, John Hayden of Auburn; her son, Richard Sullivan and wife, Brenda, of Harpswell; grandsons, Mark and wife, Terri, of Front Royal, Va., and David and wife, Brenda, of Brunswick; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Shawn, Rebecca, Bryan and Jamie; and great great-grandson, Austin.

She was predeceased by Lawrence Sullivan in 2003, her husband of 65 years.
