RANGELEY – Backwoods hiking is the topic for Sunday’s nature program at Orgonon on Dodge Pond Road.

Steve Bies of Bryant Pond will share his hiking experiences. Bies, a math teacher at the University of Maine at Farmington, has information for people thinking about hiking or bushwhacking.

Participants will also use maps and compasses on the Orgonon trails. The program begins at 2 p.m. July 6, at the outdoor classroom, which is on the trail to the tomb.

It will be held rain or shine. Water and insect repellent are recommended and for the program. Participants may bring their own compass and notebook for taking notes.

All Sunday nature programs are free of charge.
