My daughter is 6 years old, going on 7, and her innocence makes me think.

She does not think about war, or going to war to fight enemies unknown.

She doesn’t think about gasoline being more than $4 per gallon.

She doesn’t think about heating oil being almost $4.70 per gallon, and kerosene being more than $5 per gallon.

She doesn’t think about Barack Obama or John McCain.

She thinks about going to play at the playground, eating ice cream.

In this world we live in, where speculators are dictating what our dollar does on world markets, and what the price per barrel of oil will be, it is refreshing to see her innocent eyes looking up at me and hearing her say, “I love you, daddy.”

That will never be lost in the raging prices of oil and gasoline. It will never be lost with the war going on overseas. It will never be lost, because love is the one commodity that we cannot put a price tag on.

And as long as that love is there, we will be able to challenge those who wish to make war.

Give it some thought.
