NEW GLOUCESTER – Kenneth B. Smith passed away at home on Friday, June 27, with his fiancée, Margaret Thomas, by his side.
He was born in Fayette on Feb. 10, 1931, the son of Helen Young.
He married Janet Harlow on Nov. 27, 1957, who died in 2005.
He worked as a forklift mechanic at Nitco in Auburn, as a mechanic at Ward’s Garage and Roger Fiber Paper Mill, both in Poland. After retirement, he worked part time for the Lee dealerships.
Ken leaves his fiancée, Margaret Thomas, of New Gloucester, and her family; his daughters, Terry Skillings of Auburn, Tammy Plummer of Oxford, and Karen Epp of Portland; grandchildren, Janis Plummer, Hillary Marland, Brittany Marland and Kyle Epp; sisters, Rowena Tripp of Lewiston, Mildred Getchman of Wabashau, Minn.; nephew, Dane Tripp, and niece, Virginia Gilman, both of Maine; and several other nieces and nephews out of state.
He was predeceased by his wife in 2005; his mother Helen; and his brother, Richard.
