AUBURN – Virginia J. Allen, 70, of 148 Hackett Mills Road, Poland, passed peacefully Thursday, July 3, with her family by her side. Born in Portland on Jan. 1, 1938, daughter of the late Charles T.M.J. and Dora Ella J. Kennedy Walsh, she was educated in South Portland schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in the Class of 1956. She was married to James G. Allen II on Jan. 1, 1958. He died on Jan. 6, 1970.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved her family. She’ll always be remembered for her creative nature and her loving smile. She also enjoyed cooking, music, and gardening, and rocking babies.

She is survived by her five daughters, Susan Cooper and husband, Jeff, of Poland; Barbara Pennington and husband, Dave, of Hartford; Laura Anderson and husband, Kimball, of S.C.; Alice Allen of Lewiston; and Cheryl Allen of Poland; her two sons, James G. Allen III and wife, Rhonda, of North Turner and John J. Allen and wife, Lisa, of Auburn; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine Stern; nieces and nephews of Florida and extended family of Oklahoma, Rhode Island and Canada

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of CMMC as well as the Hospice House of AHCH.
