Auburn – Carmen L. Berube, 98, formerly of 19 River Road in Lewiston, died early Saturday morning at Clover Manor Health Care Facility.

Prior to Clover Manor, she had lived at and received excellent care at the Sarah Frye Home in Auburn.

She was born in Lewiston on Dec. 22, 1909, a daughter of Joseph and Azelie (Gastonguay) Robitaille.

She was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of Lewiston-Auburn. On June 12, 1933, she married Mr. Albert A. Berube who predeceased her on Oct. 21, 2002.

She worked 23 years at the Pepperill Mill until her retirement in 1972. She was a member of Holy Cross Church, Holy Cross senior citizens and the Ladies of Holy Cross. She was a hard working and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed.

She leaves her son, J. Lionel Berube and his wife, Yvonne, of Taunton, Mass.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a sister, Muriel Begert of Lewiston; and a brother, Lionel Robitaille and wife, Flo, also of Lewiston.

She was predeceased by her husband Albert; and two sons, Norman Berube of Minnesota in 1986, and Bertrand Berube of Auburn in 2000.
