JAY – Alfred H. Andrews, 83, a resident of Dubord Street in Jay, died Sunday, July 6, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 30, 1925, in Brewer, the last surviving son of the nine children born to Harris and Catherine (McDonald) Andrews and attended the Brewer schools. During World War II, he served as a member of the Merchant Marines.
On Oct. 27, 1951 he married the former Rosemarie Poulin at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. Al worked as a superintendent for Stebbins Engineering in Watertown, N.Y., which supplied tile tanks for the paper industry in New England for 30 years, and later for the Jay School System as a custodian, retiring in 1987.
He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay and was also a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #320 of Jay.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie of Jay; two sons, Leon Andrews and his partner, Scott Levine, of Providence, R.I. and Andy Lynch of Livermore Falls; a daughter, Lisa Brady of Savannah, Ga.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
