FARMINGTON – Marjorie Austin of Chesterville is the featured artist for July at Heirlooms of Tomorrow in the downtown.

A native of Farmington, Austin began her art endeavor in 1997 when she took an adult-ed oil painting class from local artist Joyce Dubay.

Since last appearing at Heirlooms in 2006, the artist said she “has continued to paint on a steady basis, so much so, in fact, that I have more than enough paintings for my own house. I am ready to sell some paintings to help finance my art supplies and travel to my favorite painting and drawing locations.”

Austin said she has been on a life-long search for a better understanding of why we were placed on Earth and the value of being human. She finds that creating art helps her find more peace and contentment.

Austin retired in 2003 from the State of Maine Department of Human Services.

Heirlooms of Tomorrow is a handcrafted fine furniture store and art gallery and recently relocated its art gallery to 248 Broadway. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
