LEWISTON – Gaetan R. “Gaet” Boucher, 72, of Lewiston, went to be with the Lord on July 4, with his loving family by his side, after a long courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on Nov. 29, 1935, in St. Georges de Beauce, P.O., the son of Edouard (Eddy) and Anna (Gilbert) Boucher. He was educated in schools at St. Georges and came to the United States in August of 1953 at the age of 17.
He married the love of his life, Pauline Cote, on Oct. 20, 1956 at Holy Family Church. Together they shared 51 1/2 years of love and marriage and enjoyed raising their two daughters.
The greatest joy in his life was his family. He loved family gatherings and bringing his children camping and on a wonderful trip to Disney World in their motor home. Other than his love for his family, he was an avid NASCAR fan and Montreal Canadiens hockey fan.
He took great pride in all that he did and never missed an opportunity to play a joke or prank on friends and family. He loved camping and spent the last nine winters in Florida, the last several years at Avalon RV Resort Park, where he made and cherished many friends that he thought and spoke of very highly. He will be forever deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He worked for the former Paul Begin Car Wash for nine years. In 1962 he went to work for Puritan Chevrolet, until it was purchased by Louis Chevrolet, where he retired in 1997 as auto body shop manager.
He was a faithful member of Holy Family Church and a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #106. Gaetan was an honest and generous man and through his generosity two people will be given the precious gift of sight.
