PERU – Worthley Pond Association President Dave Clement has met with the officers and directors of the association several times this summer to plan upcoming activities.

On June 28 a Welcome Back Social was held at Orville and Donna Lind’s camp and people had the chance to reconnect after the long winter.

The annual meeting will be held on Saturday, July 12, at Rockema Grange to conduct the business of the association.

The courtesy boat inspection program, under John Shea, is active, and plans are being finalized under the direction of Vice President Sheila Delamater for the Christmas in July celebration to be held Friday through Sunday, July 25 to 27. For more information, call Dave at 562-4611.The association store is open at Honey Run Campground from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays. Many new articles, such as bottle stoppers, magnets, ornaments, bags and clothing, are in stock. Call the above number for information.

Society to meet

PERU – The Peru Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at the Rockemeka Grange Hall.

Class luncheon

RUMFORD – The Stephens High School Class of 1955 will meet at Brian’s Bistro, formerly the Boiler Room in the Hotel Harris, at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 10.

Girls’ tea party

MEXICO – The Mexico Public Library will host an American Girl Tea Party for girls ages 5 to 11 at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at the Calvin Lyons Hall next door to the library. For more information, call the library at 364-3281 or inquire at the circulation desk.

Strawberry sale

MEXICO – The sixth annual strawberry sale will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 12, at the Mexico Congregational, United Church of Christ (the Green Church), 163 Main St.

There will be quarts of freshly picked berries sold in front of the church and to reserve berries to be picked up that morning or for more information, call 364-8603 and leave name and phone number.

Downstairs in the Fellowship Hall off of Mitchell Street, strawberry muffins and strawberry shortcake and coffee will be on sale along with other baked goods made with strawberries.
