LIVERMORE FALLS – Members of the high school Academic Boosters will spruce up school grounds Thursday morning.
The group, which was established last year, focuses on raising funds and planning events and activities that celebrate and encourage academic growth and achievement at Livermore Falls High School.
They’re looking for volunteer help and some donations of flat stones – at least one flat side would also work – or pavers for constructing a walkway.
Other items needed are mulch, loam and crushed stone, she said.
The work day begins at 8 a.m., July 10, with a rain date set for Friday, July 11.
People are asked to bring along any garden tools and shovels that they have that might be helpful for the planting project.
“We had a very successful first year with many outstanding accomplishments,” member and SAD 36 media specialist Cathi Howell said Tuesday.
Howell is hoping to get the word out to the public and school community about the group to encourage more parents to participate.
She sent home a letter to all the families with students’ class schedules for next year about the summer planting project at the school.
Among the accomplishments during the 2007-08 school year were creating welcoming banners and stars for students and staff members, serving breakfast on opening day, rewarding students who made the first-, second- and third-quarter honor rolls, providing dinner for the National Honor Society induction ceremony and awarding two $250 scholarships to graduating seniors.
A summer meeting for planning opening day activities is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, in the school library.
