AUBURN – The body of Joseph D’Amour was found on Tuesday and police are calling the death the result of a suicide.
The 86-year-old was reported missing on Saturday.
At about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, police found his body inside his SUV, which had been parked in a wooded area near the Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airport near his home, according to deputy police Chief Jason Moen.
D’Amour’s family had reported him missing three days earlier, saying he suffered from a medical condition and that he was carrying a handgun. The cause of death was not disclosed but police said it was not considered suspicious.
