American Legion District Historian Paul R. Bernard of the Turner Memorial Post 111 won the First Place 3rd District, Androscoggin County History contest for 2007-2008 at the 90th Annual State American Legion Department of Maine Convention held in Bangor on June 208. The District History book included the visit of the Vietnam Traveling Wall sponsored by the Dignity Funeral Group and the L & A Veterans Council Inc. in September of 2007, and the visit to Maine by the National Commander Martin Conatser. The award was presented by Brenda Dearborn American Legion Department of Maine State Historian.
