AUBURN – Roger O. Godbout, 69, of 55 Auburn Road, Turner, died Monday, July 7, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice Services in Auburn. Born in Berlin, N.H., on Dec. 30, 1938, he was the son of Napoleon and Rosilda Laverdiere Godbout. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of ’57. He served in the U.S. Army, and following his discharge in 1965 he owned and operated the Sportsman’s Cycle Center, a Yamaha dealership in Turner. He sold the dealership in the 1980’s, and then worked for several years as a union sheet metal fabricator.
Besides motorcycles, he also had a life-long love of dogs, especially Dobermans, and was active with the New Hampshire Doberman Rescue League.
Survivors include two daughters, Monique Godbout of Lisbon and Janet Brochu of Portland; his ex-wife, Joan Madore Godbout of Auburn; and many close friends.
His family would like to thank the doctors and staff of CMMC and the Hospice House for all the loving care they gave him during his final illness.
