LISBON FALLS – Jerry L. Burpee, 62, of Lisbon Falls, died Tuesday, July 8, at his home, with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Bath, May 4, 1946, the son of Laura Pushard Merrow. He was educated in Bath schools. After school, he was employed at Bert’s Exxon and Oil Service in Bath for more than 30 years as an oil truck driver and bus driver.

He was an avid New England sports fan, having followed the Boston Celtics, Red Sox, New England Patriots and NASCAR. He also enjoyed old cowboy movies and spending time at home with his family.

He is survived by his companion of 29 years, Donella J. Smith of Lisbon Falls; his daughter, Lisa Roney and her husband, Jay, of Massachusetts; his son, Michael Burpee and his wife, Norma, of Maine; his stepson, Troy Smith and his wife, Rebecca, of New Hampshire; stepdaughter, Lori Smith of Maine; four brothers, Richard Pushard and his wife, Eva, of Michigan, Dennis Burpee of Maine, Walter Blondeau of Connecticut, and Sherman Burpee and his wife, Janis, of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Edna Soule and her husband, Dean, of Maine and Marjorie Trask of Maine; and six grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Polkinghorn and all the nurses and staff at the Maine Cancer Center in Brunswick.
