NORTH NEW PORTLAND – A special annual angler’s service to celebrate the mountain region and to honor a tradition reaching back into the 1940s will be held at the North New Portland Community Church at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 13.
The Rev. Scott Planting will lead the service of special music and readings.
A special guest speaker, Gary Cobb of North New Portland and Pierce Pond Camps, will give a short talk about local history and sport fishing along the upper Kennebec River Valley, and there will be “Dud Dean” stories that originated in the Bingham area.
Everyone is invited to attend the celebration of local heritage. The church is located on the Hancock Pond Road. For more information, call Planting at 778-4705.
