The strawberry season is winding down, said Rick Belanger as he packed berries at his farm in Lewiston on Friday. Belanger has planted strawberries for four seasons and this is his second year of operating a “pick your own” field on Cotton Road. “This is the best strawberry growing season we have seen yet,” said Belanger. Saturday could be the last day for berries before Belanger gears up for the next harvest, sweet corn, that is about a week away. “The berries have pretty much gone by,” said Belanger, owner of R. Belanger & Sons Farms.
