WELD – Belle W. Smith, 78, of Jay and formerly of Avon, died Sunday, July 13, in Weld.
She was born Oct. 18, 1929, in Phillips, the daughter of William Wilbur and Julia (Holloway) McLaughlin. She was educated in the schools of Phillips, and worked in local factories.
She married Fred Smith Jr. July 7, 1962. He died Sept. 4, 2000. They owned and operated the Smith Boarding Home in Phillips for 13 years. She later worked at Sandy River Nursing Home in Farmington for eight years retiring in 1997.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Phillips, living in Philllips and Avon most of her life. Her love of life was visiting her children and grandchildren, enjoying her flower garden, working in her many scrap books and watching birds at the feeders.
She is survived by three sons, Almon Deming, Marcus Deming and Robin Smith; three daughters, Penny Adamovich, Carla Pinkham and Melissa Dorey; two stepsons, Alan and Stephen Smith; two stepdaughters, Judy Lowe and Patricia Nichols; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Albert Burnham.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Morton and Bill Burnham.
