SABATTUS – University of Maine Cooperative Extension Educator Kathy Savoie will present a “Preserving the Harvest” workshop on Wednesday, July 30, at Jillson’s Farm, 143 Jordan Bridge Road.
There is a materials fee of $10 a person for the workshop that will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Participants will receive a “Preserving the Harvest” food preservation packet.
Participants will learn recommended methods for preserving foods, the latest and safest recipes, equipment to insure safety and how to check for properly sealed jars. Participants may bring their own pressure canning gauge to class for a free accuracy calibration. They are asked to bring a potholder as well.
Call 1-800-287-1458 by Friday, July 25,to register. Materials fee is payable at the class by cash or make check payable to “CCEA,” putting “Preserving the Harvest 7/30/08” on the memo section.
