Has anyone noticed the disappearance of the Postal Service’s neighborhood mailboxes? There used to be one just around the corner from me.
Last winter, I believe, it had an incident with a snowplow and was taken away, never to return.
Mailboxes used to be at a walking distance for nearly everyone who lived in town. No more. Now people need to drive to get to the closest one.
I understand that the removal of mailboxes is somehow a money-saving measure for the Postal Service; however, the simplicity of neighborhood mailboxes has been lost to the community.
