AUBURN – The Auburn Suburban Little League 11-12-year-old all stars won the Distict 5 championship recently. Auburn Suburban Little League defeated Elliot Ave. of Lewiston 8-3 to move on to the state tournament being held in Lebanon.
Auburn plays its first game at 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 20.
The game was held at Auburn Suburban’s Benson field, with Auburn winning the coin toss, electing to be the home team.
Elliot’s Coleman Morency started on the mound for the Lewiston team.
Tom Hird led the Elliot team with two hits, one of which sailed over the centerfield fence for a solo home run. Ethan Melvin and Brian Wigant each slugged doubles for Elliott.
Auburn’s Brian Crane started on the mound, going 4 1/3 innings and gave way to Mickey Lawrence.
Corey Henderson and Nate Alexander each had three hits, while Brian Crane had a pair of singles. Ian Mileikis reached base four times in four tries, all by way of the walk. Lawrence had a timely hit as well did Elijah Moreshead.
