Hairstylist Stacy Williams shows hair donor Chris Perrin of Winthrop his lock of hair, as a hair-raising event at Auburn Plaza Saturday turned out to be more fun than scary. Hair stylists sporting pink T-shirts clipped a total of 300 inches of hair from the heads of 50 contributors who were serenaded by the local band Loki, which volunteered two hours of rock ‘n’ roll for the cause. The hair, snipped at 10-inch increments, is used to fashion wigs for children who suffer medical hair loss. The donated hair will be shipped to Locks of Love, a nonprofit group in Florida that oversees the program. In all, Madison Avenue Salons collected $1,000 for the program, said Tammy Chamberland, one of the event’s organizers.
