‘Bigs,’ ‘Littles’ hold end-of-year celebration

POLAND – The Child Health Center’s Big Brothers Big Sisters Programs in the Poland School District recently held an end-of-year celebration. The Big Brothers and Sisters gathered in the school gym and waited for their “Littles” to arrive from the area elementary schools.

Bigs and Littles spent several hours together creating cards so that they could exchange e-mail and mailing addresses to stay in contact throughout the summer, as well as making bracelets or necklaces from shoestring and beads. They also had kettle popcorn, chips and juice.

Susan Webster, Child Health Center mentor coordinator who oversees the Big Brother Big Sisters Program in the Poland schools, handed out certificates of recognition to all the Bigs and Littles along with dining coupons, Frisbees and key chains.

In addition, all of the Bigs were offered Bowl For Kids’ Sake T-shirts from this year’s event that took place in Poland. The Littles also received certificates for their participation and special gifts.

The Child Health Center is a nonprofit organization striving to improve the lives of children and their families throughout Oxford, Androscoggin and southern Franklin County.
