Errol, N.H. – Dana Scott Knightly, 47, beloved son of John and Janice Knightly, dad to Brittany and Tyler and brother to Diane and Darrell, died early Wednesday morning, July 16, at his home in Errol.
Dana was born on July 9, 1961, in Norway, and lived locally until building his home in Errol. He graduated from OHHS in 1979. He worked for his dad’s business, W.H. Knightly Co., until the death of his dad in 1999. He also once owned a clothing store, “Tyler’s,” in Oxford, and later Popeye’s Variety, the ice cream shop and driving range in South Paris. While owning Popeye’s, he sponsored a men’s softball team.
He had also worked in the past for UPS. He had recently formed a company with his son and best friend Tyler, TDK Trucking, and was happily busy getting it off the ground.
Dana loved his family, friends, the Red Sox, NASCAR, his Peterbilt and anything with wheels.
He especially loved being a grandpa. He was a member of Oxford Lodge 18 AF and AM. He enjoyed travel, music and riding his Harley. He went to 38 Red Sox games and they never lost one he attended. GO SOX!
He fiercely defended those he loved and what he thought was right and was often the calming influence in troubling times.
Dana leaves behind with broken hearts, his children, Brittany, Tyler and their mother Stephanie, and Tyler’s wife, Tiffany, and their children, Wyatt and Isabelle; his “Mama,” Janice; his siblings, Diane and Darrell; his companion, Tina; cousins and many friends.
