As a resident of the town of Rangeley, I am offended by Cathryn Thorup’s statement in the July 16 article regarding the Maine Supreme Judicial Court’s decision to uphold the permit granted to Poland Spring. The article was printed in the Franklin County edition of the Sun Journal.

Thorup states, “The community of Rangeley is obviously deeply disappointed with the split decision.”

For her to make a blanket comment on behalf of the community is very presumptuous.

As a member of the Rangeley community, I am not disappointed, and I suspect there are other members of the community who are not disappointed as well.

To speak for your own group is fine, but to assume that it is OK to speak on behalf of an entire community is not.

Kimberley Dolbier, Rangeley
