AUBURN – Bertha V. Jackman, 97, of Auburn, died peacefully July 21, at the Odd Fellows Home, where she has resided since February 2001.
She was born in Turner, Oct. 20, 1910, the daughter of Thomas F. and Daisy Bradford Sennett. She was educated in Turner at Leavitt Institute and Bliss Business College in Lewiston. She was married to Carleton E. Jackman, who passed away Nov. 12, 1969.
For many years she worked at various shoe factories and was floor lady at Shapiro Brothers in the packing room when it closed.
She was a member of Court Street Baptist Church, former deaconess and president of Young At Heart Club of the church. Served on Army Board of the Salvation Army, president of Women’s Auxiliary of the Salvation Army, president of the Odd Ladies of Bath for years, president of the Past Ladies Association.
She is survived by a son, Arthur and wife, Mary Ann, of West Minot; two granddaughters, Diane Jackman of Oldtown, Fla., and Julie Meehan of Bellingham, Mass.; three great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jason Childers and Abigail Meehan; sister-in-law, Grace Sennett; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth and Nellie; and two brothers, Leroy and Lincoln.
