“A House Divided,” a musical drama set in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia during the last 10 days of the Civil War, will be presented at 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 26-27, at the New Hope Baptist Church in Farmington. The story focuses on family members who are not only divided by war (one son is fighting for the North, another for the South) but also by their own internal struggles. A neighboring farmer adds comic relief to an otherwise intense plot. The free play features six musical selections, including a medley of Civil War tunes presented by a 20-voice choir. An elaborate set and beautiful costumes add to the drama, which has a happy ending. The musical was written and is directed by Sandi Rebert. Dirk Doyle is choir director. Cast members, from left, above, are Elizabeth Rebert, Max Yates, Marissa Yates, Megan Howell, Rebekah Rebert, Sylvie Venter, Roxanna Decker, John Trabucchi, Brian Rebert and Denica Decker. New Hope Baptist Church is at 268 Perham St. For more information or a ride, call 778-9696.
