FREEPORT – Shirley F. Volpe, 83, formerly of Lisbon Street, Lisbon, died Saturday, July 19, at The Hawthorne House. She was born in Newburgh, N.Y., Feb. 22, 1925, a daughter to the late Charles and Catherine (O’Mara) Gibb. She was educated in New York, and graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1946. She married the love of her life, Angelo Volpe in 1961, and he predeceased her in 1988. She was a registered nurse until she retired in 1972. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish. She enjoyed reading, watching TV and spending time with her cat Oscar.

She leaves a sister, Patricia Dumont of Lisbon Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Charles Anthony Gibb; and two sisters, Catherine Lare and Ann Marie Gaston.
