PARIS – Fire crews made quick work of an attic fire on Hill Street Tuesday night but an investigation into the cause was continuing.
A family returning to their home at 7:30 p.m. noticed smoke rising from the top of their wood frame, two-story house and called the fire department, according to fire Chief Brad Frost.
Paris firefighters were assisted by crews from Norway and Oxford as they cut through the roof where they found material smoldering in the attic crawl space. The fire was extinguished quickly and no one was hurt, Frost said.
Paris fire officials contacted the State Fire Marshal’s Office which was expected to begin an investigation on Wednesday.
