FARMINGTON – Barbara A. Hebert, 80, of 242 Washington St. in Rumford, died Tuesday, July 22, at the Sandy River Center for Health Care with family at her side.
She was born in Rumford, May 24, 1928, daughter of Aeneas and Josephine (Dunphy) McKellick. She was educated in Rumford schools, graduated from Stephens High School with the class of 1946, and remained a lifelong resident of Rumford.
On May 9, 1949, she married Gerard J. Hebert and together they settled to raise their family. Her husband predeceased her in 2002.
She worked many years for the town of Rumford until her retirement in 1985, as deputy town clerk. She was a communicant of St. Athanasius-St. John’s parish and among her favorite enjoyments in her free time were reading, sewing and knitting, but most of all, she enjoyed the special times with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She leaves four daughters, Linda Bulger and husband, Thomas, of Avon, Cheryl Gardner and husband, Arthur, of Mexico, Jacqueline Hebert of Rumford and Rebecca Hebert-Sweeny and husband, Thomas, of Gorham, N.H.; a son, James Hebert and wife, Lori, of Auburn; nine grandchildren, David Bulger, Luke Bulger, Carrie Gardner-Benik, Jill Lingley, Brian Gardner, Heidi Lowell, Katie Hebert, Tina Hebert and Cassie Hebert; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Theresa Ephlin of Michigan, and Rose Bither of Mexico; a brother, Lawrence McKellick and wife, Anita, of Mexico; five sisters-in-law, Eveline (Cissie) McKellick, Theresa Hebert, Eva Mae Morton, Nancy Hebert and Cecile Hebert; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gerard; four brothers, Alfred, Robert, Joseph and Roy (Bud); four sisters, Margaret, Florence, Grace and Evelyn; and an infant son.
