LISBON – The fifth in a series of summer guided bird walks conducted by the Stanton Bird Club will be held Wednesday, July 30, at the Packard Littlefield farm.

The seven-event series is taking place every other Wednesday at a variety of diverse local habitats and is free and open to the public. Walks are being led by Stan and Joan DeOrsey, who identify and comment on birds seen or heard.

The Packard-Littlefield farm is a working farm on the Littlefield Road. The 195-acre farm has been in the family since 1853 and has been involved in continuous agricultural production for more than 200 years.

The farm provides produce for market and a roadside farm stand. The farrn is bordered by the Sabattus River and the No Name Brook, and includes cropland, woodland, wetland and riparian habitats.

Those interested should meet at 8 a.m. at the Promenade Mall, 855 Lisbon St., Lewiston, in the parking lot in front of Staples. The group will be at the walk site at approximately 8:20. Walks will end by 11 a.m., but participants may leave early. If it is raining at 7 a.m. and predicted to continue through 10, the walk is canceled.

Walks are approximately two miles on an even and relatively dry surface. For more information, contact trip leaders Stan or Joan DeOrsey at 933-2266 or e-mail [email protected].

The remaining guided bird walks will be on Wednesday Aug. 13, at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston and Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Whitman Spring Road Trail in Auburn.
