LEWISTON – Sheldon “Jim” Mitchell of Boothby Road, Livermore, devoted father and family man, lost his battle with cancer at Central Maine Medical Center, Wednesday, July 23.
He was born in Livermore Falls, July 24, 1939, a son of John and Eleanor (Burgess) Mitchell. He was educated in local schools and as a teenager went to work for K&H Foster Inc. in Wilton. It was there that he learned his trade of masonry and carpentry. He was self-employed later in life and continued on with that trade.
He married Anna (Hiscock) Mitchell and together they had two children. They later divorced but remained friends.
He is survived by a son, Anthony Mitchell of Gorham; a daughter, Terri Mitchell of South Livermore; one grandson, Nicholas Mitchell of Livermore; six brothers, Richard Mitchell Sr. and his wife, Joanne, of Livermore, Blaine Mitchell of East Livermore, Paul Mitchell Sr. and his wife, Gina, of Jay, Duane Mitchell Sr. and his wife, Doreen, of North Jay, Brian Mitchell and his wife, Diane, of Rumford and Kenneth Mitchell and Pat Nurse of Farmington; four sisters, Patricia Nichols and her husband, Lawrence, of East Livermore, Betty Tyler of North Jay Susan Sylvester and her husband, Andrew, of Livermore and Cindy Mitchell of Farmington; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Eleanor Mitchell; brothers, Lauriston Mitchell and Dennis Mitchell; and sisters, Paula Mitchell and Linda White.
