The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA is pleased to announce the latest addition to its youth sports line-up, disc golf. Disc golf is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and the Y is pleased to offer it to local children. Disc golf offers upper- and lower-body conditioning, aerobic exercise, and promotes a combination of physical and mental abilities. Children can play disc golf with little risk of physical injury. Your child’s concentration skills will also increase as they master shots and negotiating obstacles. The best part about disc golf is that all you need to know is how to throw a Frisbee. Disc golf is open to all children 10-12 years of age. The 8-week program is going to be held at Campbell Highlands Disc Golf Course, 176 Witham Rd in Auburn, on Thursday nights starting August 7th and ending September 25th, from 5-7 pm. Registration is ongoing at the Y and is $36 for members and $56 for nonmembers. If you are looking for a fun new sport for your child that will build physical fitness and build their math and science skills, then disc golf is the program for you. If you have any questions, please call Josh LaPrell, Youth Sports Director at 795-4095, or e-mail him at [email protected].
