AUBURN – City officials and developers will hold a site dedication at 11 a.m. Monday for a new Marriott Residence Inn on Turner Street.
The dedication and a celebration of the end of roadwork in that area will be held at the Turner Street-Mount Auburn Avenue intersection.
A four-story, 100-room Residence Inn – a mid-level Marriott franchise designed for extended stays – is planned for the intersection, at the former Androscoggin Plaza.
Crews built two roundabouts in the area last summer, and have been working this summer to finish the road paving and landscaping – about $5 million worth of improvements.
“The hotel construction project is already under way, but we wanted to do something to mark the occasion and say thanks to everyone who’s been involved,” said Tracey Steuber, the city’s community and business specialist.
Tom Walsh, president of development company Ocean Properties, is expected to attend. Other scheduled speakers include John Richardson, state Department of Economic Development commissioner; and state Reps. Tom Walsh and Robert Baldacci.
