PUNTA GORDA ISLES, Fla. – Jules Auguste Dostie, 85, of Punta Gorda Isles, Fla., formerly of Maine, passed away July 27.

He was born Oct. 7, 1922, in Beauceville Quebec, Canada, to Aimee and Alexandrine (Fortin) Dostie. He served in the U..S Army in Burma, India. He was the owner/operator of J. Dostie Jewelers Inc. with his wife until his retirement in 1988. He was a registered jeweler and a member of American Gem Society, the Gemological Institue of America, the Independent Jewelers Association, was a director of the Maine Retail Jewelers Association, Rotary Club, DAV and American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, sailing, working outdoors, traveling and his family and friends.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Yvette Julia Dostie; children, Paul (Jill), Jacques (Diane), Daniel (Sue) all of Harpswell, Mary (Earle) of Williston, Fla., Jules Jr. (Holly) of Mechanic Falls and Thomas (Stacy) of Sabattus; 12 grandchildren; two great-granchildren; brother, the Rev. Jacques Dostie of Montreal, Canada; and sister, Madeline Lessard of Quebec, Canada.

He was predeceased by his parents; three sisters; and two brothers.
