LEWISTON – Maxine E. Sprague, 94, formerly of Auburn, Lewiston and South Portland, died Tuesday, July 22, at Marshwood Health Care & Rehabilitation Center, where she resided for the past three years.
She was born in Augusta, Nov. 17, 1913, the daughter of the late Wallace E. and Bertha White Curtis. She graduated from Bates College, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in English and history in the class of 1935.
She was married to Quentin Sprague, who died in May 1978.She taught history at Edward Little High School until 1967.
She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. David (Alice) Elizabeth Martin of Indiana, and Mrs. Edward (Sally) Merry of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, Michael C. Sprague of Toronto, Canada; a brother, Myrle Curtis of Bangor; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Sprague.
