RUMFORD – Edmund George Giasson II, 50, of Roxbury Road in Mexico, died unexpectedly Monday, July 28.
He was born on Dec. 1, 1957, the son of Norma and Edmund George Giasson. He attended schools in Mexico and went on to work 32 years at the Rumford Paper Mill.
He is remembered by his family and friends as an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, photography, gold panning, ATV and snowmobiling as well as nature in all its forms. He had an amazing sense of humor, making everyone around him smile and laugh.
Ed lived life to the fullest and made every day count. He loved spending time with his wife Joyce (and dog Bruno), hanging out with friends Brian Worthley and Glenn Miles (among others), and spending quality time with his family and beloved grandchildren.
He is greatly missed and survived by his wife, Joyce Giasson of Mexico; his two sisters, Susan Olsen of Mexico and Barbara Giasson of Rumford; son, Edmund George Giasson III of Lakeland, Fla.; daughter, Amy and husband, Carl Touchette, and his grandchildren, Nikayla and Carl Jr. of Mexico; daughter, Trisha and son, Gregory Giasson of Dixfield; daughter, Katelynn Giasson of Brunswick; nieces, Laurie and husband, Greg Adley, of Rumford, Sheri and husband, Carl Bloor, of Mexico and Erica and husband, Peter Hodge, of Mexico.
He was predeceased by his parents, Norma and Edmund Giasson; his grandmother, Leah Flaherty, (who raised Ed); three brothers, Edward, Michael and Larry Giasson; and his brother-in-law, John Olsen.
