LEWISTON – A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Jean Thomas Pare was held Monday at St. Joseph’s Church after prayers at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home. The Rev. Michael Seavey was the main celebrant of the Mass with concelebrants, the Rev. Paul Pare, brother of Tom, the Revs. Andrew Dubois, Maurice Morin, Georges Planter, Richard Senghas and Monsigneur Robert Lavoie. At the beginning of Mass, Tom’s sons, Anthony and James Pare placed the burial pall on their father’s casket as well as a crucifix and Bible. The readers were grandsons, Matthew Pare and Zach Mumau. The prayer of the faithful was read by Tom’s brother, Andre Pare. Offertory gifts were brought to the altar by granddaughters, Courtney Pare and Rochelle Mamau. Tom’s granddaughter, Courtney Pare sang, “I’ll Miss You” before the conclusion of Mass. After the funeral Mass, the procession paused in silent tribute at Tom and Penny’s home on College Street. After committal prayers, the U.S. Marine Corps honor detail played “taps” and presented our country’s flag to Tom’s wife, Penny in recognition of his service to our country. Delegations from Marden’s Department Store and Sears were in attendence at the Mass. Pallbearers were Marc Blanchette, Mark Cyr, Timothy Fortunato, Matt Pare, Mark Mamou and Steve Whittier.
