RUMFORD – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Collins Vargas were conducted Monday at Parish of the Holy Savior St. Athanasius-St. John Church, Rumford, with the Rev. Angelo LeVasseur as celebrant. Altar assistant was George Gionet and organist was Mark Belanger. Music included “Be Not Afraid” and “Ave Maria.” Special music “Prayer of St. Francis” and “Heaven” was played and sung by a son, guitarist Lorenzo Vargas. Readings were given by sons, Hugo and Lorenzo Vargas. The eulogy was given by daughter, Lisa Picard, who also read words from son, John Vargas. Committal services were conducted by the Rev. LeVasseur and interment was at St. John Cemetery, Rumford. Pallbearers were John Vargas, Hugo Vargas, John Vargas, Dana Picard, Larry Picard, Tom Collins, Tom Collins Jr. and Frank DiConzo. A reception followed in the parish hall of St. Athanasius-St. John Church. Arrangements were under the care of the Meader and Son Funeral Home.
