WEST PARIS – An investigation into the shooting deaths of two men over the weekend continued Wednesday, although police revealed few details.

The bodies of Timothy Mayberry, 50, and Todd Smith, 43, of Paris, were discovered at Mayberry’s Tuelltown Road property on Saturday. Each died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to police. No arrest had been made.

Police on Wednesday continued to interview people and process evidence taken from 89 Tuelltown Road in West Paris, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said.

“We continue to work hard to find whoever is responsible for the deaths of these two men,” he said.

Maine State Police investigators also continued to search the property at 30 Front St. in Sumner on Wednesday afternoon. The residence is owned by Naomi and Duane Waterman, both 32. Duane Waterman was questioned by police on Tuesday and later released.

McCausland declined to comment on whether any other residences had been searched in the course of the investigation.

“We have confirmed we’re searching those two homes,” he said. “Beyond that, I’m not going to get into more details as to what we may or may not have done.”

McCausland said he was also unable to publicly discuss what the motive for the murders may have been.

Mayberry was found outside his house; Smith was found inside. Police believe the men died Friday evening or Saturday morning.

Mayberry owned a painting business and Smith was believed to have been his friend. Obituaries described both as construction workers who loved the outdoors.
