NORWAY – An exhibit of paintings and photographs of Lake Pennesseewassee is on view at the Norway Memorial Library through Aug. 9. The show titled “Images of Lake Pennesseewassee” includes artwork by Vivian Akers, Lee Bean, Pat Chandler, Vera Emerson, Nancy Engdahl, Minnie Libby, Jeanette O’Connell, Zilpha Plummer, Barbara Traficonte and Ellie Viles. Also featured are photographs by Vivian Akers, Pat Gott, Minnie Libby, Cynthia Thibodeau and Ellen Veazey.

The library will offer gallery tours from 6 to 8 p.m. as part of First Friday, Aug. 1. The public is welcome.

Norway Lake memorabilia is also on view in the display case in the main reading room and includes post cards, photos and souvenir china pieces with images of the lake.

A handmade book celebrating Lake Pennesseewassee created especially for the Norway Arts Festival is now on sale at the library. Titled “Lake Pennesseewassee: Art & Poetry,” this small, limited-edition book features 12 art prints of oil and watercolor paintings and photographs, and 12 poems about the lake.

The art and poems include some older and some newer creations by artists and poets inspired by Norway Lake. Poems were written by Hortense Gardner Gregg Gates, John Governale, Lisa Moore, Mimi White; there are also six haiku poems by students at Lewiston High School.
