SANGERVILLE – Gerald R. “Jud” Wark, 70, died unexpectedly at his home without the family’s permission of a heart attack on Wednesday, July 30.

He was born July 10, 1938, in Hartland, a son of Herbert and Irene (Fletcher) Wark. Jud was a graduate of Dexter High School, Class of 1956, and then spent the next four years serving in the U.S. Navy as a radioman.

Upon his return to Dexter in 1960, he managed the A&P Store for several years, before beginning a long and successful career with Dexter Shoe Co., retiring as human resource director in January 2000.

He had many interests, but his greatest passion was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Virginia “Dinny” Wark of Sangerville; two sons, Michael D. Wark and wife, Terri, of Litchfield and Douglas M. Wark and wife, Lorraine, of New Gloucester; his daughter, Teri (Wark) Hagelin and husband, Tim, of New Gloucester; four grandchildren, Raechel and Samantha Wark and Nathan and Laura Hagelin; a sister, Donna (Wark) Clukey and husband, Dean, of Houlton; two sisters-in-law, Jean Wark of Florida, and Joyce Wark of Dexter; two brothers-in-law, Dick Hall and wife, Joanne, of Dexter and Tony Hall of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Herbert, Stanley and Richard Wark.
