In a recent mailing, state Sen. Lois Snowe-Mello has gone a long way in deceiving the general public. The mailing claims to be a “Legislative Update” for the Legislature’s recent session.
The letter is misleading in that she appears to be taking credit for supporting legislation, such as increasing the minimum wage and investing in Maine’s bridges and roads.
In reality, Snowe-Mello voted against both of those bills, along with other bills focused on improving quality of life for Mainers.
Snowe-Mello was one of the three senators who voted down the bill to accelerate repair and maintenance of Maine’s transportation.
What her mailing reveals is not only that she practices obscuring the truth, but also that she clearly does not have her district or Maine’s best interests at heart. A senator who votes down an increase in minimum wage in a state that is deeply economically depressed, or who does not support road repair, can have no understanding for the needs and situation of most Mainers.
It is upsetting that Sen. Snowe-Mello has published such a deceptive mailing, but given her disappointing voting record, it is understandable.
