RANGELEY – Residents will have a second chance Monday to choose a candidate to fill a three-year selectman’s term.

The special runoff election between incumbent Selectman Robert Welch and challenger Gary Shaffer will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 4 at the town office. In the first vote on June 10, Welch received 136 votes and Shaffer 135. A recount later that month resulted with both men tied at 136 votes each.

The Board of Selectmen have been operating with a four-member board until a winner is declared.
