There are some people who evidentally believe history began when they were born. There are others who think that Barack Obama, as president, would make great changes. Of course, nobody knows what those changes would be, but I suspect there wouldn’t be anything new if he should become president.
From what I can glean from what Obama says, any change would hark back to the days of President Jimmy Carter, when the misery index was high, oil in short supply, gas lines at the pumps, hostages taken in Iran and, according to Carter, people had to do with less (conservation); that is, until President Ronald Reagan came aboard and freed up the oil supply, freed the hostages and, in general, got the country back on firm ground again.
So, if Obama gets his way, the nation will be in an excellent position to repeat the days of the Carter administration. It is well to be knowledgeable of history, but whether is it taught in public schools anymore, I wonder, and if so, whether any have listened.
Good luck to all those who wish for change.
