DAR to meet
LISBON FALLS – Regent Sheila Desgrosseilliers announces that Burnt Meadow Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the home of Jayne Bickford. Following the business, a play, “Patriots and Loyalists,” will be presented.
Grange meeting
MINOT – Members of Androscoggin Pomona Grange will attend as a body the 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, service of the Minot Center Congregational Church. A Grange planning meeting for the coming year will take place following the service. Members will dine at noon at Roscoe’s Rockin Railroad Buffet in Mechanic Falls. All members and guests are welcome.
Scrapbook workshop
LEWISTON – The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing will host an “Accordion Scrapbooking Workshop II” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12.
Workshop facilitator Barbara Richard will help participants create an accordion-style personal scrapbook for preserving special photographs and memories. Materials will be provided free, and participants must bring their own photographs.
The program is being offered free at the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing, 10 High St.

Community Day
AUBURN – The Danville Union Church invites the community to join them in celebrating Community Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16.
There will be a quilt show and demonstration; admission, $2. A hot dog and hamburger luncheon will be $4 and the quilt show and luncheon combo is $5. There will also be free games and a vintage car display.
Bridge winners
LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Aug. 4 were: first, Connie and Ron Reynolds; second, Pat and Mike Quinn; third/fourth tie, Martha Young and Dick Allen with Nancy Farmer and Richard Balian; fifth, Martine Begert and Lu Theriault; first in B, Alberta Turner and Helen Little; second in B/first in C, Gail Burke and Larry Fortier.

Bridge play
LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on July 29 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Flight A winners were: first, Janet Arey and Linda Leotsakos; second, Martine Begert and Rosemaire Goodwin; third, Luke Merry and Lucille Theriault; fourth, Leslie Buzzell and Leslie Lord. Flight B winners were Dick Allen and Martha Young. Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the center.
The club held a Membership Game on July 30 at Schooner Estates, Auburn. Overall winners in Flight A were: first, Patricia Quinn and Lucille Theriault; second, Jeanine Kivus and Rosemarie Goodwin; third, Luke Merry and Paul Barber; fourth, Philip and Marilyn Bird; fifth, Larry Fortier and Anna Vitiello. Flight B winners were: first, Della Starbird and Elaine Potvin; second, Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau.
