BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – Albert A. Dionne, 82, died Aug. 2, at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, N.Y., after a prolonged illness.

Born Sept. 1, 1925, he lived most of his life in Lewiston. He was active in his community as a member of the Knights of Columbus and Community Little Theatre. He also directed the choir at SS. Peter and Paul Church for many years. He also sang the national anthem at L-A Twins and Maine Nordiques hockey games.

He enlisted in the service during his senior year at Lewiston High School. As a member of the Army Air Corps, he was stationed in Knoxville, Tenn., where he received a degree in engineering from the University of Tennessee.

After his military service, he worked at the Brunswick Naval Air Station for 30 years. He spent his retirement enjoying his favorite activities: attending concerts, traveling, dining out and reading. He had lived for the past eight years in Vestal, N.Y., with his companion, Georgette Giroux.

He is survived by two sons, Gerald A. Dionne and his wife, Claire, of Mechanic Falls and Marc A. Dionne and his wife, Suzanne, of Topsham. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Nicole Dionne and her fiancé, Jaime Madison, of Lewiston and David Dionne of Mechanic Falls.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Olive B. Dionne, in 1988.
