Winthrop – Helen R. Poulin, age 83, a longtime resident of Jay, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the Winthrop Manor Nursing Home following a long illness.

She was born on Nov. 19, 1924 in St. Methode, Canada, one of nine children born to Xavier and Diana (Pomerleau) Grondin, and was educated in the schools of Canada. She married Henry L. Poulin and immigrated to Maine in 1950. He passed away on September 19, 2003.

Helen was a devoted wife and homemaker for 53 years. She and her husband traveled all over the world. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church where she was a member of the Resurrection Choir and a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of Charismatic Order of Oblates and numerous catholic organizations including the Ladies of St. Anne. She is survived by three sisters, Aurore Gosselin, Yvonne LePage and Lucienne Tardif, all of Canada; numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and special godchildren, Donald Champagne, Richard Brochu, Joel Dunn, Marilene Tardif, and Joan Poulin.

She was predeceased by brothers, Andrea, Honorius and Alcide Grondin and sisters, Beatrice Champagne and Rose Brochu.

Helen’s family would like to thank the staff at the Winthrop Manor for their wonderful care during her stay.
